DOUG LLEWELLYN: Explain what, what we're looking at here.
CLIFFORD BLACKMAN: This is an exhibit from a trial involving a car accident where the person was ejected from the car and wound up with a bad head injury. So the illustration that we're looking at is a picture of the brain looking down and shows the, the bloody area, or the bad hematoma, on the exterior, as well as blood that has accumulated inside the brain. And there's also some explanation in the other diagram about what happens on a cellular, a cellular level in the brain when there's damage.
DOUG LLEWELLYN: Now why did--why was this picture of help to you in the case? I mean you were--
CLIFFORD BLACKMAN: Well, to talk about a subdural hematoma sounds medical.
DOUG LLEWELLYN: Right.
CLIFFORD BLACKMAN: And I don't think anybody knows what it is, but if they could see, oh there's blood right in the middle of the person's brain, it's--they get the idea that that's a bad problem and you can't easily get to it to fix it, et cetera.
DOUG LLEWELLYN: So give me, give me a, a little bit of description of the case, what had actually happened here.
CLIFFORD BLACKMAN: This gentleman had pulled from a stop sign to be struck on his driver's door by a car that was speeding. And the crash was so bad that he was ejected from his vehicle. He wound up on the ground and with a bad head injury and broken ribs. There were other injuries too.
DOUG LLEWELLYN: So were you successful in the case in, in getting--I guess getting funds for him to help him recover?
CLIFFORD BLACKMAN: Actually that was a very rewarding case because the, the client was able to--he got a very significant verdict and was able to really make changes in his lifestyle. He went from driving a taxi cab to being a property manager of his own apartment building.
